Typical Assembly
Typical Series 400 S, SE Snap-In Insert; installed in honeycomb sandwich panel. Insert is held in place by a cured epoxy
compound.
Note: For installation and tooling information, see pages 44 and 45.
Length and Skin Thickness Dash Number Selection
Select Length Dash Number from Tables 2 based on the minimum full thread length required by the application. Insert
length “L” must be a minimum of .040” less than depth of panel core (See Fig. 1).
Examples:
- Requirements: 440 Size Crimp Lock Thread, Carbon Steel, Slotted Head, Minimum Full Thread Length of .200, for a
panel with a skin thickness of .035, and an overall panel thickness of .410. From tables
select:Length /-06 Skin/-3 P/N = 495 SE 440-06-3
- Requirements: 624 Size Helical Coil Lock, Aluminum Alloy, Non-Slotted Head, Minimum Full Thread Length of .400,
for a panel with skin thickness of .060, and an overall panel thickness of 035. From tables
select: Length/-16 Skin/-6 P/N = 406 S 624-16-6
Fig. 1
Minimum clearance is required between bottom of insert and inside panel skin for proper epoxy bonding around bottom of
insert.
