What does the acronym PMA stand for when reading aerospace fastener specifications? PMA – Part Manufacturer Approval. Approval granted by the FAA to a manufacturer of aircraft parts.   Manufacturers that hold a PMA can make replacement parts, even though they did not build the aircraft that the part or hardware will be installed on.
