OEM’s, CM’s and distributors are likely to experience a dramatic shift in increased demand for aircraft fasteners and aircraft hardware starting early next week May 19th as result of lost capacity at Chengdu Aircraft in China.  We have been told that Chengdu Aicraft may have suffered severe line damage due to the earthquake in China on Monday.  The epi-center was extremely close to Chengdu forcing Chengdu to close production times for a time.  Chengdu was making half of the rate on the 737 Forward Entry Door (FED and the Over Wing Exit (AOE)  Doors.

We are expecting significant increase demand in the BACN, BACR, and BACB part numbers next week as US subcontractors buy to shift production back to the US during the recovery in Chengdu.

What this means for you our customer:  We suggest placing parts on order immediately if you plan on using the BACR / BACN / BACB part prefixes.  There is limited supply and this only leads to price increases.
