Airbus A350 operators have a new maintenance option with a global footprint. Honeywell and Lufthansa Technik announced an agreement on day one of the 2017 Dubai Airshow to support of all Honeywell components on board the aircraft, including the HGT 1700 APU, at Lufthansa Technik’s facilities around the world. The offering gives airlines a “one call” support line for access to repair or replacement parts throughout the Technik logistics network.
“The groundbreaking design of the Airbus A350 demands an equally impressive maintenance, repair, and overhaul solution to ensure fleets remain operational and efficient,” said David Shilliday,“The groundbreaking design of the Airbus A350 demands an equally impressive maintenance, repair, and overhaul solution to ensure fleets remain operational and efficient,” said David Shilliday, Honeywell Aerospace’s vice president, Airlines, for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. “With our continued support, Lufthansa Technik has a winning combination of technology and expertise to offer an unparalleled customer experience.”

The partnership builds on Lufthansa Technik’s experience servicing six airlines’ A350 fleets since the type entered service in late 2014. “Honeywell’s best-in-class design and engineering knowledge base combined with our continuous repair improvement philosophy and world-class asset management services provide us with everything we need to respond to a range of maintenance, repair and overhaul needs,” said Robert Gaag, vice president, Corporate Sales EMEA, Lufthansa Technik.
Lufthansa Technik also announced that it won contracts for two new specialty cabin interiors of decidedly different customers. The company signed its first customer for a VVIP cabin completion of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, with work set to begin in 2018. The aircraft will have three sections once completed.
The forward residence area includes an office, bedroom and bathroom. The center of the aircraft hosts a conference room and dining area. The aft portion of the aircraft hosts the accompanying delegation in different seating classes.
At the other end of the spectrum the group secured a customer for its A330MRTT cabin concept. The multi-role tanker and transport aircraft can serve a variety of missions so the interior options must match that flexibility. Lufthansa Technik has four specific mission roles that it designed around, ranging from head of state transport to a mobile intensive care unit or a troop transport layout.
“Aircraft used for civil or military purposes must meet different requirements depending on the situation,” said Wieland Timm, senior director of Sales, VIP and Special Mission at Lufthansa Technik. “We have therefore developed cabin layouts for four particularly frequent deployment scenarios, which will enable significantly more intensive and improved use of the aircraft in the future. The combined civil and military approval permits fast deployment of the machines for their respective missions.”
